26.05.17 - Copenhagen

It was a beautiful day today, perfect to visit Tivoli Gardens! It's a short 15-minute walk from our apartment, but even arriving just 10 minutes or so after opening it's already crazy busy. Getting into the garden was pretty quick though.

Oh my days...it's a flower wonderland! The gardens are everywhere throughout the park and very well manicured. We had amazing timing to see all these tulips popping up. And they were huge! We can't get over the size of these flowers. Of course, if you like amusement park rides then this is your place, but for us it was all about the flowers! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the city.

Breakfast

~ Albatross & Venner

Torvehallerne KBH

  • Cinnamon roll

  • Vanilla "danish"

  • Feta and spinach pinwheel

We tried the feta and spinach pinwheel, and vanilla "danish" today. The danish reminded me of rice pudding! Very tasty. The feta and spinach pinwheel was underwhelming so would not order that again.

Lunch

~ Grøften

Tivoli Gardens

  • Asparagus soup

  • Shrimp on white bread

  • Mixed vegetable salad

I had low expectations, thinking this place would be like a typical mediocre amusement park restaurant, but thankfully I was wrong! It was pretty good. The salad was chock full of veggies, nuts and beans with a tasty dressing; the shrimp on white bread was simple but nice and light. The most surprising to me was the asparagus soup - it reminded me more of a potato soup, but much lighter and good flavor! That was definitely a winner.

Snack

~ DØP

Amagertorv 31, 1160 København, Denmark

  • Classic roasted hot dog (pork sausage, ketchup, mustard, remoulade, crispy onions, raw onions, pickles)

When in Rome...eat a hot dog! This Danish version of a hot dog was so good, even more so with a crispy and juicy sausage. It's not too big so can be a tasty snack. Definitely a must try, one of the best hot dogs I've had! Totally worth it.

~ Isoteket

Sortedam Dossering 11, 2200 København, Denmark

  • Hazelnut bergamot

  • Milk gelato with caramel sauce and hazelnut

After leftover pizza for dinner, I had a hankering for ice cream. And luckily there is a gelato place across the "lake"! This stuff tastes just like what we had in Italy...so good! The hazelnut is definitely hazelnut, no mistaking it, although the bergamot was hiding a bit. The milk with caramel sauce and hazelnut was a light flavor and almost like of you got yogurt gelato, just without the tartness. Altho the caramel and hazelnut was a little lacking. Overall very good!
