26.05.16 - Copenhagen

It was a rainy day today, but we braved the weather and went for a walk through the nearby park - Ørstedsparken. It's a very well-maintained park with a cafe, playground and lake in the middle. The foliage is beautiful this time of year with many trees blooming or at least starting to bloom, and even some peonies and tulips too!

Exiting out of the park, we then walked along the "lakes" - which we keep calling the canals. There's dedicated bike paths, as well as separate walking paths around each of the sections of the canal. And very popular! Even with the rainy weather, a lot of folks were out and about.

After heading back and a brief siesta, we hop on the Metro (for a short two stops) on our way to lunch at Cafe Wilder. Small restaurant, but the food is oh so good and the staff is excellent.

Then it's back home for another siesta and nap for me. Delayed jetlag is hitting hard.

Breakfast

~ Albatross & Venner

Torvehallerne KBH

  • Ham and cheese

  • Pain au chocolat

  • Cinnamon roll

As with yesterday, all the pastries were absolutely amazing! Except...and I can't believe I'm saying this...but I was not a fan of the chocolate in the croissant. Blasphemous! The croissant itself was fantastic, but I could've done without the chocolate. The "cinnamon roll" (what they called it) was the best darn cinnamon roll I've had, but not like what we have at home - this was less sweet and had a coffee/cinnamon/orange flavor combo. Delish!

Lunch

~ Cafe Wilder

Wildersgade 56, 1408 København, Denmark

  • Steak fries

  • Vegetarian hamburger

  • Chevre salad

This place was an amazing find when the parents visited Copenhagen last year. And boy I'm glad we decided to eat here this time. The food was amazing! Best steak I've ever had, the most tender and just delicious. The goat cheese (chevre) salad was also delicious and somehow they made the apple slices in a way that none of us could figure out but was an absolute winner. I didn't try the vegetarian burger because I was way too full at that point, but it smelled amazing and dad certainly loved it. Oh, and their fries and the best I've had too. They know what they're doing!

Dinner

~ Little Brother

Nørre Farimagsgade 57, 1364 København, Denmark

  • Spicy (salami, nduja, gorgonzola, mozzarella)

  • South (ham, mushroom, artichoke, olives, mozzarella)

It was a very slow afternoon and included a rare nap on my part, so dinner was simple and convenient pizza from just down the street. First off, their pizza is one of the thinnest I've ever had (which we like) and a really good crust. Toppings were tasty and while I can't say it was the best pizza I ever had, in the moment it hit the spot.
