Siena Day 2

Fog, anyone? As the morning progresses it gets thicker. Very Harry Potter-esque. Interestingly, my phone camera seems to "see through" the fog and you can see the outline of the church dome across the way. But just looking out the window I can't see anything. Objects may be foggier than they actually appear!

After breakfast we brave the fog and make our way to Duomo di Siena. On the ground, the fog isn't really noticeable. Thank goodness otherwise that would be very unsafe!
The duomo is a six minute walk from the apartment, so very far away. And wow, what an impressive building.

And now for a photo dump because it's hard to just pick a couple pictures.

These last few photos are from the baptistry.

Time for a mid-morning snack - back to Pasticceria Nannini Conca D'Oro we go! Same again, creme donut for mom, but this time I get a nutella cornetto. Yum.

After a short siesta, it's lunchtime! It's amazing how close everything is here. One minute you're in the middle of the city and the next you're in what feels like remote countryside. Lunch is at Ristorante/pizzeria All'Orto de' Pecci, a restaurant plopped in the middle of a large plot of land - a community park - at the outskirts of the city. And it's picturesque. With animals! Like I could say no to that. It's a perfect spot and with perfect weather like today, so relaxing.
But first, just the walk to get to the restaurant was beautiful.

Now for the food! We ordered pici with pork and fennel, pasta with tomato sauce, and mixed veggie things. All very tasty. And their house cheesecake for dessert. Yum!

Of course we had to say hi to the animals, as well. They had a donkey, ducks and geese, a goat and sheep. Oh, and a peacock.

We say goodbye to the animals and head back to the apartment. After a siesta before dinner, another run to the market for some groceries and then a repeat at Gastronomia Morbidi Cocktail Bar for dinner provisions. Tonight, green beans and lasagne. Delicious!

Ciao!
